Welcome to the Living Legend Homebase

A Quick Summary

Armies rise and nations fall. Such is the way of a world that has never known true peace. Battles have been fought, territories have been claimed, and the maps have been redrawn before the ink could even dry. To many, there is one common enemy: the militaristic nation of Serdenia, which threatens to bring all people and countries under its dominion. A seemingly immortal God-among-men, known as the Conqueror, has been leading Serdenia on this campaign for thousands of years. Many have died fighting against the Conqueror’s armies, but none have sacrificed more than a hopelessly flawed man currently going by the name Dirk. Dirk has given his life countless times in the endless struggle against Serdenia. He’s led men into battle, started revolutions, and died in the most gruesome ways imaginable. However, he inexplicably returns from the dead each time.

Dirk is constantly haunted by the choices he’s made and the innumerable defeats he’s suffered over the course of hundreds of years. He dreams of a time without war, but his faith in humanity, as well as in himself have drastically changed since he first began his treacherous crusade. Dirk’s mannerisms are unusual, and his efforts are sometimes left wanting, but he’s the best chance there is at preventing world domination. The only things stopping him are an undefeated and superior army, his inability to trust others, and his chronic drinking habit.

He’s the man, the myth, and the Living Legend.

What is this?

A poorly designed website, but nevertheless MY website. Writing has always been my passion ever since I was a kid doodling comic strips. I quickly learned I was a terrible artist, but that it was endlessly fun developing characters and having them interact with one another. I went on to start and give up on countless stories, until I had this idea:

What if a man cursed with reincarnation challenged a man that couldn’t die?

After I finished college I couldn’t find a job so I spent my days writing the first draft of Living Legend. It took about 6 months to finish, but it would then take me many years to get to a place that I was fully satisfied with. I drew sketches of the characters and a map of the world as I continually grew the universe I was creating (keeping in mind this isn’t my area of expertise). Several close friends and family read different iterations of the book, providing invaluable feedback being that I was too close to these characters to understand an “outsider’s” POV. I eventually hit pause on revising the first book as it’s an arduous and tedious process re-reading your own writing over and over (and over).

I shifted gears and jumped into the sequel, which I’m about halfway through. This expanded the world and also pointed out further edits I wanted to make to the 1st book. After ~7-8 years, I’m ready to share my story with anyone who wants to jump into a new fantasy world and meet people I consider friends as much as they are fictional characters.

  • When/How can I read Living Legend?

Right now! You can click the link at the top and scattered throughout this page to purchase a physical copy of Living Legend from Amazon. I just received my own first copy and was blown away by the high quality publishing job! (not a paid endorsement)

  • What's next?

In addition to The Living Legend’s sequel which is well underway, I’ve also been working on several short stories that are meant to provide insight into Dirk’s various lives. He’s been roaming around drinking and kicking ass for a long time so I hope these share some background for how he got to be who he is today. I’m happy to share that the first of these stories is finished and available totally free! It’s titled The Perfect Pour with cover art by my super talented GF Holly! There should be a link around here somewhere for you to check it out… So much more to come!

  • Need any help?

It’s hard asking for help but consider this my official plea: if you enjoyed Living Legend, please share it with anyone and everyone. It would also be great to add more artwork to this site about the world (and the map I drew could definitely use a makeover) - if you have any experience or know someone who does, feel free to shoot me an email!

I appreciate everyone who is reading this and who wants to read more!
